THE JOURNEY OF OUR PRODUCTS: FROM FACTORY TO YOUR HANDS
We’re forging a community-centered membership alliance aimed at delivering our Summit products, both existing and new, at discounts of up to 80% off traditional retail prices. While you’re familiar with our innovative magnetic lens change goggles, there’s a whole array of products behind the scenes, ranging from helmets to ski gloves, sports and lifestyle sunglasses, socks, neck warmers, hoodies, tees, and more. And that’s just the beginning – we’re also gearing up to introduce technical outerwear and expand into children’s skiwear to cater to families.
One burning question you might have is, “How can a brand slash £80 off a £140 product without compromising quality or resorting to inferior materials?”
The answer is straightforward: we bypass the middlemen and streamline the process from production to you, the end-user.
In this post, we’ll delve into the journey from factory to consumer, spotlighting key players and dissecting how they influence the final price tag.
With over two decades of product development under my belt and growing our Summit brand, I’m driven by the thrill of identifying opportunities for our Summit community and bringing exceptional products to fruition.
From sourcing premium materials to crafting them into products that resonate with our community, there’s no greater satisfaction than seeing our products enhance your experiences in the mountains.

Our Summit Community
Nothing makes us happier than being able to create products for you – It’s the main reason we’re here. We create technically advanced snow-sport products, you buy those products, you love the products!
However, we’ve had a niggle for the past number of years that pricing has had to increase, which frankly, just doesn’t feel right.
We see businesses and brands everywhere, ourselves included, preaching about putting the customer first; but are we putting you first if we create a product, mark it up to the hills (pun intended) and then charge you for it?
There are of course reasons why prices increase; the cost of materials, the cost of labour, the cost of living, trying to grow a brand… and this is just us. What you have to consider is that these increases also happen to our distributors, wholesalers, sales agents and retail stores.
Let’s take a look at the next intermediary in the supply chain, the retail store.
Sales Agents
These guys are on the road. Sales agents visit retailers to present the latest designs and developments to store owners with the aim of being stocked. Sales agents of course have to make a living, they also need to cover travel, accommodation, plus other overheads. It’s a tough gig as it’s predominantly a ‘commission-only’ role.
In 2016 I had this flight case manufactured in order to present our products in a way I thought would be memorable. I toured Les Trois Vallees visiting retailer after retailer, with a case that was around 45 kgs in weight. I slept in the van and felt I earned everyone of those sales. If I didn’t have two beautiful children, I’d still be doing it now. A tip of the hat to all sales agents reading this.
